PAGCOR says: “Game responsibly.” What does that mean?
“Responsible gaming” has become a by-word in regulated markets like the Philippines. But that’s more of an “industry” term. What the hell does that really mean to you and me?
Nothing really.
Here’s how we’ve been practicing “responsible gaming” in real life…
- Don’t play with money you can’t afford to lose. Slots and games should be FUN! Yes, you might win, you might lose… that’s the ride! Gambling is like roller-coaster for adults. You get up, you’re excited, you’re playing with the house money… you raise your bets… and your streak continues or turns and you find yourself back to your original deposit. STOP. Lady Luck is a flighty, fickle little bitch (who we love unconditionally) but when she’s left your lap or shoulder or wherever she sits, when she’s gone, STOP.
- Set limits for wins and losses. We quit when we’re down half-way of our bankroll. Save it for another day. When we double our money, we TRY to withdraw… but more often keep playing with higher stakes, If Lady Luck is with you, enjoy! If she’s not, your favorite game has gone “cold” on you, STOP. Come back later… we’ll be here and she’ll come back to see you again.
- Don’t “buy the feature.” Or if you do, DROP your bet down so you can see it and enjoy any small winnings from it. And then get back to playing at your “normal” bet level and try to hit it “naturally.” Most features have the same RTP (return to player) as the “base game” (NoLimit City is perhaps an exception to this rule). But yeah sometime it’s just fun to see it, try it, break that run of not getting it.
- Play games that give you “value for money.” Games you simply ENJOY playing, like watching a good movie of that amusement park ride. It’s no fun to blow through your bankroll on game where you don’t even know what’s going on. Try the DEMO mode, see if you like it. Every demo mode of a game that we’ve ever played plays EXASCTLY like the real thing; they are not rigged to make you think you’re going to win when you “play for real.” But they’re a LOT more fun when you figure out what it is you’re really looking of on the reels or in the cards; it’s that anticipation that makes the game exciting, just like watching a basketball game.
- Figure out the right spin amount for your bankroll. If you deposit 500 pesos, play 5pesos a spin, or ONE peso per spin. In blackjack, the advice is that you should have 30n times your bet amount in your bankroll; in slots… less clear but we recommend at LEAST 100 spins, 500 is even better.
- If you’re not enjoying the game play, try a different game. We have hundreds of gamesto try, some will be super fun for you, some will not. It completely varies by player (like we hate “the Dog House” but love “Medusa II” (once we figured it all out—a lot going on in that game! But we like that…).
No reasonable, intelligent casino operator wants to see you get into financial trouble due to your gaming with them. We want you to enjoy the games and service we provide, not take your car payment, rent, college fund… Have fun and enjoy!
